Alan was born in Huntingdonshire, but has lived most of his life in Norfolk. He began pinting in 1993 depicting various Norfolk scenes. However, his lifelong interest in natural history soon started to show in his works and wildlife subjects began to appear.
Wishing to broaden both his outlook and subject matter, he began to travel the world. He has been lucky enough to have travelled extensively over five continents seeking all forms of wildlife in their natural habitats. He believes it is important that wild creatures should indeed be wild rather than captive, and should be portrayed in their natural environment where they belong.
Alan paints mainly in watercolours and still concentrates on wildlife and landscapes, although he exhibits throughout East Anglia, his paintings can be found in private collections as far away as Australia.
